For many parents, sitting down with their preteen boys to watch cartoons can prove to be a confusing experience. If you are like me, remembering cartoons brings back images of the Roadrunner fooling the Coyote, Popeye eating spinach, and the Pink Panther smoking a cigarette. Now when I watch television programs with my children, I am met with anime characters that possess elite fighting skills and scenes involving animal-like beings with special powers.
Parental and Remote Control
While I realize that I have the ultimate authority in my house to control the television set, I also understand that my cartoon boys really love some of these shows. I have come up with a great solution to maintain my sanity and keep my children happy. Watching episodes online allows me to see some of my favorite shows, while keeping the kids occupied on the computer.
Cable Networks that Offer Program Streaming
One of the easiest ways to find entertaining animated shows is to search the websites of some of the more popular children’s networks. Some of the most commonly viewed stations for kids’ programming are:
- Nickelodeon
- Cartoon Network
- Disney Channel
While all shows may not be available on their respective channel’s website, this is a good place to start as you typically can at least get background information on the programs and their content.
Other Sites for Watching Cartoons Online
If a search of a specific channel does not lead to a wanted animated show, there are a variety of web pages available that have access to popular content. Many times these pages also have sit-coms, documentaries, and drama programs available.
Parental Advisory for Television Viewing
While finding programs online may seem like the answer to a prayer, there are some considerations necessary to protect your children. While many of the above sites will be safe and provide the content that is advertised, the possibility exists that the content of the television programs may be altered. If you are concerned about the content that your child is viewing online, consider placing a parental monitor on the computer or have the children watch the programs in the same room with you with headphones.
